altJoel W. Sambursky joined the Forbes Financial Group team in 2007 after serving as the Executive Director of the Carbondale Chamber of Commerce. Joel received his bachelors’ degree in Finance in 2005 and his Masters degree in Business Administration from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale in 2007. Joel holds his Series 7 and 66 licenses and enjoys helping clients reach their financial goals and objectives.

Teamwork, leadership, and competition, are important qualities in Joel’s life. As Southern Illinois University’s quarterback from 2002-2005, he led the Salukis to three straight conference championships and NCAA National playoff appearances, played in an unprecedented 49 straight games, was voted the “Toughest Saluki” for four straight years by his teammates, and set many Saluki quarterback records. When he is not in the office, Joel, an avid outdoorsman, loves hunting, fishing, hiking, and any opportunity to get outside and enjoys the world’s beauty.

Joel serves the Southern Illinois community by serving on the board of directors for the Carbondale Chamber of Commerce and Southern Illinois Regional Social Services. Joel is married to Samantha Sambursky, the former Samantha Sutzer, who was a four year letter winner for the Saluki Women’s Golf Program. Sam is currently the Assistant Women’s Golf Coach at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. The Sambursky’s reside in Carbondale with their new daughter, Laney, and two dogs, Bear and Buck.
