Marcia Beth Sinnott, realtor at Five Star Realty, has been a resident of Carbondale since 1959. She is married to Jim who is a local businessman and has two grown sons and four grandchildren. Marcia has been an active Realtor since June, 1979. She previously was an elementary teacher at Carbondale Elementary District #95. Marcia served two terms as President of the Carbondale Education Association. She received her BS in 1971 and her MS in 1975, both from SIU in Carbondale. Marcia has served on a variety of committee chairmanships at Egyptian Board of Realtors and Illinois Association of Realtors. She was awarded Egyptian Board of Realtors - Realtor Associate of the Year, 1983. Marcia also is the Charter president of Friends of the Carbondale Public Library. She is also a Charter member of the Rotary Club of Carbondale-Breakfast, being the President from 1989-1990 (One of first female presidents), Rotarian of the Year in 1990, Distinguished Service Award in 1997, and the Rotary District 6510 Rotarian of the Year Award in 1998. Marcia is also an avid Saluki athletics fan and was a member of Saluki Women’s annual Fund Raising Committee.
