The Carbondale Chamber has several committees in which members can provide leadership and volunteer their time. These committees give our members a voice, and an outlet to help make a difference in our chamber, and in our area.
AMBASSADORS COMMITTEE
This group promotes new and existing businesses through ribbon cuttings, open house events, helping new members make connections within the community, and recruitment / retention of Chamber members.
The Ambassadors Committee is lead by Nic Skovgaard and meets monthly at Buckwater Brew Works and Whiskey House.
SALUKI PRIDE
The Saluki Pride Committee promotes Southern Illinois University through support for Athletic programs and other campus groups. They organize the annual paw print painting project, the Saluki Pride Luncheon, held in August each year, and the Saluki Stay scholarship program for SIU students.
The Saluki Pride Committee is led by Sean Cooney and meets monthly at the Carbondale Chamber office.
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
The Economic Development Committee is a joint effort between the Carbondale Chamber of Commerce and the City of Carbondale. The committee provides a forum for discussion of economic development opportunities for our region, and a mechanism to put ideas into action. The committee is divided into three sub-committees: Attracting and Retaining Businesses, Attracting and Retaining Residents, and Attracting and Retaining SIU Students.
This committee is led by Stephen Mitchell and Darren Berger and meets monthly at the Dunn-Richmond Center.
GOVERNMENTAL AFFAIRS
The Governmental Affairs Committee serves as a liaison between Chamber members and city, county, state, and federal governments. The committee works to build and maintain relationships with local, regional, and national leaders so as to best represent the needs of our members.
This committee is led by Steve Quinn and meets on an as needed basis.
FINANCE COMMITTEE
The Finance Committee meets to review financial matters of the Chamber.
The Finance Committee is led by the Board Treasurer and meets on an as needed basis.
ANNUAL BANQUET
The Annual Banquet Committee is responsible for planning the Chamber's annual awards banquet. This committee is made up of various Chamber members, along with representatives of the Board.
This committee is led by Tena Bennett and typically meets monthly between September and February.
GOLF SCRAMBLE
This committee is instrumental in supporting and planning the Chamber's annual golf scramble. The Golf Scramble Committee is made up of various Chamber members and representatives of the Board.
This committee is led by Cristina Pisoni and meets monthly from January to June each year.
LEADERSHIP CARBONDALE
Leadership Carbondale is an annual program designed to help build future business leaders in the Carbondale area. This committee is responsible for selecting participants, working with host companies, and managing the curriculum.

Carbondale Young Professionals are committed to recruiting and retaining young professionals in our region. They strive to provide opportunities to build relationships, develop professionally, become community-involved and improve the quality of life in Southern Illinois.
